The committe draft (CD) of the ISO-HTML project is now available for review by the National Bodies and Liaison Organisations
The draft CD is now available at the site ftp://ftp.cs.tcd.ie/isohtml and provides:
Note that this draft CD takes into account the consensus view on the question of sectioning in ISO-HTML. Authors will not have to use any new elements to conform to ISO-HTML.
In addition to the notes in the text which elaborate or provide further details in support of the normative text, there are 20 notes addressed to the NB experts on matters in which the Editors wish to receive the technical consensus of the NB experts. These address such questions as the possible replacement of the keyword PCDATA by RCDATA in the content models of certain elements. Although the editors are always interested in individual opinions, it is the general consensus which is sought. To facilitate the formation of this consensus, the mailing list iso-html@cs.tcd.ie has been made available.
Sample documents will not be prepared until the NB balloting has been completed and any corrections folded into the text. However markup examples are provided for most of the 70 elements.
The editors have sought to avoid any gratuitous imcompatibilities between ISO-HTML and HTML 2.0/3.2. NB experts considering proposing changes should also consider the opportunity of proposing the same change to the IETF and to the World Wide Web Consortium.
